Richard E. “Dick” Munz, 59, of Russells Point, was called home to be with his Lord, Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine. He was born September 4, 1950 in Urbana, the son of the late Robert W. and Hazel (Burns) Munz, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Carola (Liggett) Munz, whom he married November 25, 1972 in Bellefontaine. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lt. Kristi (Eddie) Schmitt of Beavercreek and Ali Munz of Russells Point, his brother, Butch (Billie) Munz of Bellefontaine and sister, Bonnie (Phil) Vermillion of Galloway, sisters-in-law, Connie Forsythe of Richwood and Judy Coons of Bellefontaine and brother-in-law, Gary (Alice) Liggett of Marysville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was raised in Bellefontaine where he graduated high school in 1968 and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In 1982, he received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from National University in Sacramento, CA. Major Munz was commissioned though the Air Force Reserves Officers’ Training Corps upon graduation from BGSU. His first assignment was with the Tactical Air Command C-130s in the Republic of the Philippines where he flew in the evacuation of Saigon. He later was stationed in Little Rock AFB where he was a Special Projects officer flying the most sensitive missions in the Pacific Theater. He was a Flight Commander and instructor for the Navy students and Navy instructors, and then was the Assistant Operations Officer. He was later assigned to Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts as the Director of Logistics on several blackworld programs. In October of 1989 he was assigned to the AMRAAM Joint System Program Office, Eglin AFB, Florida. For his outstanding service, Major Munz was awarded several decorations including, Air Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Commendations Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He retired in 1993 from the Air Force and has worked at Honda of America, East Liberty for the past 9 ½ years. Dick had done tremendous amounts of volunteer work and coaching youth sports including basketball, baseball, softball and soccer. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. In addition to his family, he leaves behind his military family, Pirates Cove family, BHS class of 1968, and his many friends from all around the world. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine with Chaplain Kendall Rogers officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard. Friends may call on Wednesday at the funeral home, from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM. Donald E. Walters, 62, of Russells Point,OH, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at his home. He was born on January 11, 1948, in Bellefontaine to the late Donald K. and Camilla H. Ruhl Walters. On September 6, 1980, he married the former Carol L. Moots in Bellefontaine. He is survived by his wife, Carol, stepdaughter: Jennifer Bielawski of Columbus, stepson: John Rice of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and step grandson: Stephen Bielawski. Don attended Indian Lake High School and was a Navy veteran serving in Vietnam. He worked for the Village of Russells Point as Zoning and Building Inspector since 1999 and formerly owned Honda Harley-Davidson of Bellefontaine. He was a member of the ILDC. He enjoyed fishing, boating, motorcycles and was an excellent cook. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville. Visitation will be Friday, August 20th from 6-8 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Henry A. Whitacre, 88, of Lakeview, past to be with the Lord and his other loved ones, peacefully at his home on August 19, 2010. Henry was born in Lima, Ohio on August 30, 1921 to the late Emerson & Cleta Zigler Whitacre. He will truly be missed but welcomed by those that preceded him, parents, his wife of 54 years, the former Madge McDowell, three brothers; Jim, Harry, and Joe, sister; Thelma, and many others He is survived by his son; Mike (Wanda) Whitacre of Lakeview, three grandchildren; Kammy, Jason, and Milecha, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister, Bernice Laviness of Lima, sister-in-law, Cecil Whitacre of Fostoria, OH, and many nieces and nephews. Henry was a WWII Army veteran, and was wounded during the invasion of Normandy. He was a life member of the Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39, Lakeview, Donald M. Shafer Memorial VFW Post #6560, Dayton, American Legion Post #888, Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533 and Indian Lake FOE #3615, both of Lakeview, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 148, Delaware, OH, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8. Henry was a kind, generous, and loving person, a stranger to no one. He leaves behind many friends. He always had a joke or story to tell and loved and enjoyed his time here on earth. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be given to the Henry A. S. Kay Gibson, 64, of Bellefontaine, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born on December 26, 1945, in Waynesfield, OH to the late Robert & Helen Hatfield Burden. She was preceded in death by a brother: Dale Burden. She is survived by two daughters: Kim (Miguel) Vazquez of Dayton, and Michelle (Jerry) Corwin of DeGraff, a son: Robert Andrew (Lee Ann) Gibson of Huntsville, nine grandchildren: John Fotou, Jason Fotou, Amanda Green, Erin (Mike) Leiter, Nick Fleming, Josie Corwin, Joseph Corwin, Tara (Glen) Wheeler, Sara Gibson, four great grandchildren: Haiden, Xavier, and Kayl Green and Michael Wheeler, a sister: Faith Harper of Bellefontaine, W. David Burden of Monterey, CA, and John A. Burden of Covington, LA. Kay attended Washington Twp High School in Lewistown. She was a member of Bellefontaine First Assembly of God. She was a long time volunteer for OHIO READ at Bellefontaine City Schools, and loved animals, especial her dog, Pete. Per Mrs. Gibson’s wishes, her body was cremated.
