COLUMBUS, Ohio – With more than 53 million Americans relying on AAA for roadside assistance, the organization expects a high level of service from all of its more than 11,000 affiliated service providers. Each year, to honor the top service providers, AAA selects four providers to receive the Gold National Service Provider of Excellence Award. This year, Wren’s Service Station, located at 427 W. Miami St. in DeGraff, received one of these coveted awards.
History
Wren’s Service Station is a third generation family business, and its story is truly one of economic success. Orville Wren started the operation in 1965 with a two bay Shell gas station and a 1960 Dodge pickup truck. Orville passed the business on to his son, Gerald, who in time passed it on to his son, Jeromy. When Jeromy assumed the leadership role in 1997, he added eight trucks, a light service vehicle and numerous employees. Today, the business serves Logan County with 11 trucks.
Service, community involvement
AAA Service Providers of Excellence are chosen for their superb customer service and innovative delivery of automotive solutions to members. Recipients of the award have shown to consistently provide outstanding service and display strong community involvement.
In 2011, Wren’s responded to nearly 4,000 roadside assistance calls with an average response time of 32 minutes. Through simple roadside diagnostics, Wren’s was able to get about 60 percent of these drivers on the go without needing to tow them.
Wren’s Service Station’s impact on the community extends beyond emergency roadside assistance. The business is deeply involved and respected in the local community. The garage performs all mechanical service work for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Russells Point, Lakeview and Washington Township police departments.
As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides nearly 52 million members with travel-, insurance-, financial- and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers. AAA clubs can be visited online at www.AAA.com.
